Justice Mansoor Ali Shah receives a monthly salary of Rs 1,135,496, which includes driver’s allowance and medical expenses. Moreover, under the Supreme Court Judges Act 1997, both the former judges are also entitled to certain post-retirement benefits, which include accommodation, medical accommodation, full staff, utility rates, office vehicle and fuel, security, protocol and special benefits for women.

In November 2025, the two justices resigned from the court in protest of the 27th Amendment to the Constitution, arguing that the amendment weakened the power of the Supreme Court. President Asif Ali Zardari approved both types of receipts on November 14, 2025.

Justice Mansoor Ali Shah and Justice Athar Minallah, who resigned from the Supreme Court after the 27th amendment to the Constitution, received a substantially revised pension. Justice Mansoor Ali Shah received a pension of Rs 161 crore while Justice Athar Minallah received a pension of Rs 154 crore. According to reliable sources, the two former judges also received monthly pension, with Justice Mansoor Ali Shah receiving Rs 1.1 crore and Justice Athar Minallah receiving more than Rs 1.2 crore per month.

Before stepping down, the law firm had increased the housing allowance for the high court to Rs 3.5 crore and the allowance for the high court to over Rs 1.1 crore. Justice Mansoor Ali Shah served as a judge for over 16 years while Justice Athar Minallah served for over 11 years. Both justices resigned after the passage of the 27th Amendment. Sources say that even after retirement, both former judges continue to receive medical facilities, accommodation, other government benefits and special accommodations for their spouses. According to the documents, the total monthly salary of Justice Athar Minallah is Rs 1,220,381, which includes driver’s salary, special allowance and medical expenses. 

3- It should also be noted that from November 2024, the federal government has significantly increased the salaries and allowances of judges of the Supreme Court. According to a statement from the law department, the rent for the judges’ quarters in the Supreme Court has increased from Rs 68,000 to Rs 350,000, while the cost of the Supreme Court has increased from Rs 428,000 to more than Rs 1,161,000. Justice Mansoor Ali Shah served the bench for 16 years, one month and 26 days, while Justice Athar Minallah served for 11 years, four months and 24 days. According to the rules, retired judges can also choose to buy their own used car at a discounted price and use the facilities of a private driver or contractor.
