Imran Khan is in jail due to wrong decisions, it is difficult to come out, says Sher Afzal Marwat

Lahore National Assembly (NNI) MP Sher Afzal Marwat stated that the terrorist incidents did not begin when the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) came to power, nor can the PTI be blamed for the rise in terrorism. The PTI governs a province, and as such, it should have fostered an effective anti-terrorism movement among the population, but we have not seen any serious action from the PTI. In an interview, MP Marwat asserted that the current leadership of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf has maintained a single narrative: that the system has stagnated and collapsed, but the reality is quite the opposite. According to him, the system has buried the party. He added that the current party leadership is doing its best, but not following Imran Khan's lead.

Imran Khan proposes initiating a protest movement, but the leadership sometimes goes to Lahore and sometimes to Karachi, sometimes talks about a show of force in the streets; these people have no intention of freeing Imran Khan. He said that Punjab is the largest province, but with the current leadership in Lahore, there haven't been large numbers of protests. Now, the Sindh government has authorized a demonstration in Mazar-e-Quaid. If this large demonstration doesn't take place on January 11, it will show that the workers and the people of the PTI do not support the current leadership. Sher Afzal Marwat stated that Imran Khan is innocent, has not committed any crime, but is in prison due to wrong decisions, and under the current circumstances, it seems unlikely he will be released.

Regarding the negotiations between the PTI and the government, Sher Afzal Marwat stated that the PML-N and the PPP share the same narrative, as the ISPR Director General made clear in his press conference. According to him, the ISPR Director General's press conference should be remembered, as nothing will be achieved through the talks, and they are a waste of time. Sher Afzal Marwat claimed that Imran Riaz, Sabir Shakir, Moeed Pirzada, and Shahbaz Gul were among those close to General Faiz Hameed between 2018 and 2022. Some of them seized power, others built hospitals, and still others committed illegal acts. He alleged that Shahbaz Gul committed acts such as looting and mobile phone theft and leaked confidential party information after his arrest. This is why, after their release, they were provided with concessions under the agreement, including assistance in leaving Pakistan. Sher Afzal Marwat asserted that the narrative these individuals are currently constructing is merely a way to make money; it is neither their religion nor their conscience. According to him, those who sell their conscience cannot be expected to speak the truth or demonstrate honor. He added that such narratives have caused serious damage to the party.
