Speaker National Assembly Sardar Ayaz Sadiq announced the procedure for appointing the opposition leader.
ISLAMABAD (NNI) – National Assembly Speaker Sardar Ayaz Sadiq informed the Assembly that the case concerning the disqualification of the former opposition leader is currently before the Peshawar High Court, and that the National Assembly has joined the proceedings. The Assembly Secretariat sent four letters to the opposition leader and National Assembly member, Malik Amir Dogar, requesting information on the current status of the case. The Speaker indicated that, after providing the relevant documentation, the process for appointing the opposition leader has begun.
Speaker Sardar Ayaz Sadiq read Sub-Rule No. 2 of Rule No. 39 of 2007 of the Rules of Procedure of the National Assembly, concerning the appointment of the opposition leader in the Assembly. The Speaker informed the opposition that they must submit their nominations for the opposition leader by 3:00 p.m. Tomorrow, Tuesday, January 13. The President of the National Assembly said that the signatures on the nominations will be verified and counted on January 14, after which the appointment of the opposition leader will be announced.
